Communicating with Deaf & Hearing Impaired Patients

Last year I was fortunate enough to teach some third year nursing students. One of their assignments was to create a learning resource for nurses and health professionals.  I was amazed by their creativity and efforts.  I wish I could share them all with you!

I am very excited though to share one of these wonderful resources.  It was created by a student, Molly Sullivan and is designed to help health care professionals communicate with their deaf and hearing impaired patients.  The website she created provides information on the deaf culture, links to interpreter services, and videos demonstrating some AUSLAN signs.

I hope you check it out and share it with your colleagues and students.

Communication is key
